never wouldhave chosen to go to. (Interestingly, at Peter's request, he was crucified upside-down, as he believed {that he was not worthy to be|himself unworthy to be killed in exactly the same manner that Christ was.)
Even ignoring all the historical parallels, there is a highly vital for all of us in Jesus speech to Peter. When we are small children, we have few responsibilities, and Pastor Chris may come and go and wander as we please. But when we become adults, we then take on adult responsibilities;often these responsibilities seem very onerous and hard, and require us to go to a place where we would rather Pastor Chris not go. Still, the discussion between Jesus and Saint Peter shows us an important lesson Christ will always be there for us. Even if we should deny him in a moment of weakness, he is always constant, and always ready to accept us provided that we come to him him with love, honesty, and belief.
